Enhance IPM's SAP support

  • Input from Amy's SAP technical presentation is below. Before implementing any of these, we'd need to verify any of these are actually needed by customers and what problems they have without these functions included in IPM.

    • SAP for z/OS Client -

    • script only or full support

    • we have no compiler for z/OS - start building the SAP for zLinux client

    • we have a zLinux server in Boulder(JSDA machine - we don't have rights - need to update the IBM contract) and the SW expertise SPR - customers want to move from zOS -- much easier to make for zLinux with present resources - validate with customers

  • Split to a second Idea

    • SAP Transform Enhancements - pick a different executable - The dev effort is in a different team

      • More generic box character support; now they have to be in selected font

      • SAP ding and icon support

      • Print support controls for ABAP, i.e. only normal and bold are supported, but color, italic, etc. are not

      • Color output from OTF RDG

      • Support ASCII files that reference multiple code pages in a single file, for both ABAP and OTF data

  • Attach files

I would add SAP for Linux One (Linux on mainframe) support. My understanding is that Linux One (RHEL mainly now that it's been purchased by IBM) is pushed on the mainframe rather than z/OS.
